Bike Parade and Rides

The Downtown Street Fair Bike Parade and Ride is a fun, family-friendly activity that calls attention to the environment, celebrates the physical and social benefits of bicycling while encouraging physical activity. It also helps citizens understand the need for bike lanes and the fact that Tulare needs more. And, we're doing this cuz it's fun!

BIKE ROUTES
Route #1: approximately 5.0 miles with turn-arounds along the way. This is about a 40-50 minute ride. This is appropriate for kids who already have ridden around neighborhoods and are comfortable on their bikes. The route can be shortened for beginner riders. The route departs the airplane on ‘L’ Street going north to Cross Avenue, where it turns right to the east following Cross out to Mooney Blvd. At Mooney, the route turns right (south) to the entrance of the Santa Fe Trail, where the route follows the Trail back to L Street, and left to the airplane. The route may be shortened by turning right on either Blackstone or Laspina and accessing the Santa Fe Trail at those points. Parents MUST accompany any child under the age of 8. Click here for map.

Route #2: approximately 10 miles, about 1.5 - 2 hours.  This is appropriate for highly experienced riders or families and individuals who regularly use their bikes.  Parents MUST accompany any child on this ride.  The route departs the airplane on ‘L’ Street going north to Cross Avenue, where it turns right to the east following Cross out to Laspina where it turns right (south) and follows Laspina out to Cypress School where the bike lanes end. (Experienced riders may want to ride all the way to the AgTec center on south Laspina to get their full 10 miles). At Cypress School or the AgTec center, the route loops back and riders will follow Laspina back to the Santa Fe Trail, turning left (west) and following the trail back to L Street, and left to the airplane. Parents MUST accompany any child under the age of 12. Click here for map.

Please note: on both courses, volunteers are supervising the ride and monitoring the streets and are not able to oversee individual children.
