So, you're thinking you'd like to be a TDA board member; that' GREAT!

The TDA serves the downtown in a variety of ways. Some of the most visible are our events like Cinco de Mayo and the Tree Lighting and Parade along with the street fairs. We also work on projects such as advocating for businesses with City Hall (such as the newly enacted "spice" ordinance) and addressing issues such as vandalism, vagrancy and security. We also manage the parking district.
While we are involved in a plethora of activities the most important aspect of the job is that we are engaged in something truly significant with visible results and it truly is an enjoyable board upon which to serve.
Now, be nominated to the board here's what our by-laws state as the requirements to serve. Make sure you or your nominee meet these requirements:
"Any member of the assessment districts in good standing may post in the office of TDA their name or the name(s) of additional candidate(s), proposed by them. The proposed candidate must:
- Be a member in good standing
- Represent a business within the zone of the available position and
- Submit their name upon the proper form. Such form must be submitted no less than forty-five (45) days prior to the date of the annual election.
A business or downtown entity may have only one representative serving on the board."
If you meet all of those requirements, you can submit your name. Please make sure your submission reaches us before April 7, 2015.
"Posting in the office" is done in one of these ways:
- Return the card that was mailed to you to our office by mailing it or hand delivery, or
- Click on this link to the Board Member Nomination form, fill it out, and submit it thru our online system.
Your name will be added to a list of other potential nominees. From the list, the nominating committee will choose candidates from each district and you will be notified of the nominating committee's choices.
